City Chic

A week ago I went to San Francisco for a day trip with my friends Libby and Johnluke. You know when friends are coming to town you have to have the right outfit for the best pictures. Libby and I did some collaborating before they arrived because thats what real friends do. I'm gonna share with you both ideas for a day in San Fran if its your first time as well as my outfit details.

I got this amazing shirt from H&M on sale. Good news its still on sale go grab it. Because San Fran can be cold I chose to wear a Turtleneck from Forever 21 under it. Other options could be a cute bralette, or a white tank any of these would be really cute. I got these jeans from The Gap for Christmas and I'm obsessed. They are so comfortable and fit my curves perfectly. They are also the perfect length for me which is usually hard because I'm not the tallest person. These jeggings are currently on sale as well, hurry and get you a pair. My shoes are Steve Madden Dicey. I love these booties but I will say have not been the most comfortable. After a day of walking around the city in them my feet were killing me. It could be that I'm still breaking the in or they may just be a shoe to wear for short periods.

My sunnies are from Quay and are fantastic. SPLURG ALERT: My bag is Louis Vuitton which was a gift from my parents for my 30th birthday. It's the perfect size and I wear it regularly. It has a little inside clutch that I often take out to carry when I go out. I would recommend this bag to anyone looking at getting a Louie. I chose the Rose inside because I prefer it to the red personally but it's all about preference they are both beautiful bags.

We had the day to spend in San Franscisco before they had to catch their flight so here's how we made the most of this day and were able to to see all the places we wanted. We started at the Ferry building. There we got Cowgirl Sidekick which was the best grilled cheese I've ever had. I also recommend grabbing a Blue Bottle Coffee, it's really good coffee.  There are a lot of places to eat in the Ferry building but we wanted to be quick so we went to the places that were quick instead of sit down.

From there it's like an 8 minute drive to Pier 39. Pier 39 is where you can see the sea lions sitting on the docks and also had a view of Alcatraz. We got Libs and JL some clam chowder from Boudins. I don't eat sea food but its apparently good clam chowder. There a lot of cute little stores at Pier 39 and stairs that play the piano as you walk up. It's also kid friendly and has a magic show in the middle.

Now the best part, The Golden Gate Bridge. It was a perfect day not a cloud in sight (which isn't very common). We took these photos from Battery Spencer. The Bold Tourist gives great directions on getting there.

Lombard Street was next on the list. I will say if you are limited on time I would cut this out of the trip. It's underwhelming for sure. Don't get me wrong its really cool that the street is like this but you can't tell in pictures unless you have an arial view. It's cool if you have time but if not you aren't missing out.

The View Lounge at the Marriott Marquis is amazing. They open at 4 and are on the 39th floor of the hotel. Getting to the hotel can be a bit tricky because of the way the roads are set up but don't give up. We found a parking garage parked and walked to it which was helpful. The view is fantastic and worth it. We got cocktails and hummus. It's pricey for sure but if you have the money to splurge I would recommend it for the experience. If you don't you can still go up and take pictures without purchasing anything. We had dinner at Tropisueno. The food was delicious as well as the margaritas. It's in walking distance of the Marriott so we didn't have to drive.

Hope this is helpful for anyone looking to go for a day trip in San Fran.
